Called in here today after walking our dog around the area, didn't want to leave dog in car so asked if we could take our sandwich and drinks out to the benches overlooking the sea as it was a lovely day. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and obliging even though they were exceptionally busy for a Monday lunch time, they told us so as we hadn't been before so wouldn't have known what to expect. Even though we only had a sandwich and drink the atmosphere of the pub and friendliness of the staff means we will definitely be marking this as somewhere to return to in the near future Wished we lived closer to try out the Live Music evenings but rather a long drive from the Tyne Valley where we live!

To answer the same two reviews by "the regulars" as we are not given the opportunity to reply on these same two negative comments for some reason (no reply link unlike the positive comments):
1. We are truly sorry if you do not feel welcome.
2. Yes, ONE table was reserved on New Years Eve but please bear in mind unlike most pubs we do not charge our regulars to come in on that night of the year, provide a free band, free snacks and a free raffle - nobody was forced to stand and there were plenty of seats available as the night went on and people came and went.
3. The feedback we had from our regulars was it was the best New Years Eve night at the Kings in a long time.
4. We accept on the night of 4th June we had a private function where a "bouncer" was provided by the wedding party - not the pub. This event was advertised for many weeks in the pub to alert our "regulars" to the event - it was also made clear that the pub reopened at 10pm on that night and many of the regulars came in then. Not sure why you would not have seen the notices we had all over the pub like the other regulars did.
The feedback Rita and I have received has been positive from the regulars and the pub is going from strength to strength with regulars and visitors a like - we are genuinely sorry if you do not feel welcome any more but feel that the review you have given is not an accurate reflection of how we treat our "regulars" or "vistors" as depicted in the other reviews . Paul & Rita

Other Publicans should look in here and find out how to run a great pub. Old fashioned good customer service.Staff could not be more helpful.Food not cheap but excellent quality . Well done.

Used to love going for a drink here until the owners reserved tables on new years eve forcing us to stand, table occupants didn't arrive until 10 pm but no one was allowed to sit at the table! Called in for a drink last night to be turned away by "bouncer" on the door due to a private function. We would rather go elsewhere where we are made more welcome.
