Do not go to Azzuri if you are limited for time i.e. your lunch hour. Service, although the guys are friendly, is very very very poor..... even if you pre-order you can wait up to 45 minutes to be served your food. This is not a one-off - its happened on numerous occasions for us.
This used to be my favorite italian restaurant, not any more. Meal on friday night, terrible, service no better, and the food, well.! The menu is boring not what it used to be and chips in an italian restaurant, come on, they were dropped on the floor by the Waiter and Remained there for the rest of the night, Shocking. Will not be Going back.! At all.
I visited this restaurant yesterday for the birthday of a friend with a group of 12 girlfriends, for the happy hour and was amazed at the presentation and excellent value of the food. The decor is fabulous and the staff were so efficient and cheerful they really looked after us. Will definately be booking another table soon
I arranged a night out in Newcastle with 14 work colleagues and decided to go to Azzuri for the Happy Hour Special.
It was well over a year since I last dined at Azzuri, however, was extremely pleased like everyone else with the choice of restaurant.
The service, reception and most of all the food was 'spot on'.
Well done Azzurri, one or two who hadn't yet been to Azzuri will certainly be returning!
We dined here for the first time a few weeks ago and have since been every week. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, but the food and the service are outstanding which we find is quite rare in a restaurnt these days! It has been nice to receive proper service where the waiters actually want to fetch you drinks etc, and there is a great choice on the menu so it will be some time before we can work our way through it. If you want a nice romantic coupley meal or a group night out, then I can definitely recommend this restaurant as there is a great vibe in there.
I have given this restaurant 5 stars as I think it stands out head and shoulders above other restaurants in Newcastle, taking food, decor, atmosphere and price into consideration.
This used to me my favourite place to eat. I even I had my hen do here. But my husband and I went for dinner here tonight and we were shocked by the fall in standards. The food was terrible. I complained that my prawns to start were very over cooked (obviously been cooked earlier and re-heated) and the restaurant manager shrugged his shoulders at our waitress and walked away.
My husbands brushetta could have been made by a primary school kid.
Mains were no better.
When we commented to the waiter on paying that the food standard had dropped significantly he told us that the kitchen staff were all new except one and that they'd had many complaints!
I'm really disappointed and we won't be going back.
Such a cool restaurant, loved the interior and the food was great.
