Lovely service and a fantastic venue. It's a shame the food wasn't great - overcooked and a bit flavourless. Will definitely go back to listen to the music and take in the atmosphere. Probably wouldn't eat there again until they upgrade the chef!

Really don't know what to say about this. I'm only giving it 2 stars because we did the visit with a Living Social voucher, making it a very cheap visit. The starter was ok, the Sunday lunch was not good. There was something on the plate that may or may not have been potato. It was gluey and lumpy and cold. The mashed turnip (we think) was not the nice fresh yellowy colour you would expect but a somewhat off putting rusty colour. The beef was nice and crisp though (this is sarcasm as clearly, beef should not be crisp). The broccoli was fairly well cooked and the correct colour, which was a bonus. As an added little extra for this visit, we were greeted by a stench of toilets on arrival at the bottom of the stairs (you have to go upstairs to get to the place). Had the stink been present upstairs we simply wouldn't have stayed. Not good all round.

Went on Sunday for lunch, was so cold inside the place that even the 'waiter' kept his scarf on and looked like he wasn't staying long. Found a free table on top of 2 other diners and asked for a menu. We were told there weren't any and that they do "Sunday lunches and burgers and stuff on a Sunday"; opted for a Sunday roast (would've been nice to know what trimmings etc it came with). Out came the food, lukewarm, no cutlery or condiments so had to wait for those, whilst watching our food cool down even more. The roast was nothing to write home about, had a lot better. Was asked if we would like any desserts but as there were no menus (v.bizarre) to peruse and again, find out what came with them, we declined. Two other sets of diners came in and say down but upon hearing there were no menus for some ridiculous reason, they had the sense to leave. Needless to say we won't be going back!

My husband and I enjoyed a late lunch at this venue on Saturday and, based on the food and service we received then we will definitely be back! The home-made chips alone were enough to tempt us to return, they were absolutely delicious, as were both our meals. AND the bottle of wine we ordered was chilled to perfection and not merely coolish as is the case in most establishments. The only negative point was that I had reason to complain about the state of the ladies toilets however, the management team immediately addressed and solved this problem.
