The best restaurant in Newcastle by far. I am a Scottish vegetarian who is lucky enough to have moved to Jarrow and I take all my Scottish and overseas visitors to the Red Mezze. Even my co workers love it as well.Fabulous staff who make me feel so welcome.Food is very reasonable and the French Red house wine is lush. Will be back soon.

Fantastic little restaurant. Went for a meal on 19/3/2011. No booking, turned up on the off chance we could get a seat and staff were most accommodating and welcoming. Two of us dining. Food is absolutely delicious. We had the hot mezze starter to share - lovely combination of foods (falafel, houmous, halloumi cheese, mussels) and a bottle of red wine to help wash things down. The two mains were a chicken stuffed with peppers and cheese (can't remember name) - absolutely delicious. Other half had moussaka - this has to be the best moussaka I have ever tasted! Will be ordering this the next time we go (there will definitely be a next time!). Finished evening off with coffee and baklava (yummy!). In total it was approximately £45 for a bottle of wine, a starter for two, two main courses, two coffees and a dessert. Thoroughly enjoyable food, delightful restaurant. Staff were absolutely professional and attentive. Food is absolutely delicious. Will be making several trips back if only to try and work our way through the other gorgeous looking meals on the menu! Only negatives would be the "cosy" size of the restaurant, and the noisy group of drunk ladies at the table next to us, but the food and the restaurant are certainly recommended.

I really like this Turkish restaurant. I have been twice and would happily try almost everything on the menu. It is quite small but has nice decor and a nice atmosphere. I would recommend the Iskander, which is flat bread topped with spicy chicken and yoghurt. It is reasonably priced and the staff are nice. If you're looking for dessert there are not many to choose from but I haven't tried any.
