a great little theatre that is truly at the heart of the community

An excellent theatre venue (not so great as a cinema however!), run by freindly and attentive staff who know their business. With a surprisingly eclectic mix of music and theatrical acts, along with the occasional politico on tour, there's alwasy something interesting there.
The Playhouse also hosts a variety of photo and art exhibitions, which are free of charge to all!Unlike the nearby Bailiffgate Museum, which charges visitors to see exhibitions, and where the Museum's old historic photographs of Alnwick town have been taken away for personal use by a Trustee of the Museum.
The Playhouse always some fascinating act on the go, and is well worth a visit just for the art / photography exhibitions alone!
The only problem I have with the Alnwick Playhouse is that it is neither one thing nor the other.
It is a poor cinema and only a fair theatre or music venue. It really needs to make its mind up as to what it is supposed to be.
It does have all the potential to be an axcellent location for entertainment events, but I believe that the cinematic requirements are holding it back.
I also note the posted comments about the nearby Bailiffgate Museum, where I can verify that old Museum photographs have been stolen by a Trustee (A.I.) and added to his own collection.
A quite despicable action, and one that the Museum staff seem to be too frightened to do anything about.
