Definitely not PR for the Asian community, this film shows the rites of passage of a young man who wants to do right by his family, but finds it impossible to conform to their narrow-minded conventional ideas and expectations. Seizing the chance to develop his talent as a DJ, mixing and scratching, he has to confront the hypocritical value-system of the older generation.
There is a thumping, adrenalin-fuelled soundtrack that succeeds in making his DJ dreams exciting! Lots of movement, pulsating lights, and some moving moments, particularly when he finds his sister (memorably played by Amber Rose Revah) slumped on the floor in a drugs den, and his brother (excellent performance from Neet Mohan) is arrested by the police.
Well-made and exciting.
