Directed by Shyam Benegal, one of the pioneers of parallel or serious cinema in India, Zubeidaa is a love story based on the life of the spirited Princess Zubeidaa. Shyam is known for his commitment to making films about strong Indian women and we have him to thank for launching the careers of Smita Patil and Shabana Azmi.
A totally engaging film with highly polished performances from Karishma Kapoor, (Zubeidaa) and Rekha.
