I've drank in Sleepers for over 15 years and I have to say that it has gone steadily down hill. From being a vibrant well populated pub with bands and football as its main theme, it is now an absolute dive. You need a gas mask to go into the gents, the carpets and seats are filthy and the place is a general mess. The place probably shuts around 9pm during the week, and after the band on the weekend. Talking about the bands..there is generally one on Fri, Sat & Sunday and when in the olden days the pub used to be packed on these nights, it is now probably only 1/3rd full at most. If you get to know the staff they are a good bunch but when a pub is spiraling downwards into oblivion, it is hardly surprising that they might seem a bit dour and less attentive than most.
If you want a beer neer Boldon Metro...then try the Grey Horse.
not very friendly . young blond behind the bar made me feel very on welcome didnt bother to ask what i wanted as she chatted to her mates just looked at me so i had to ask for a drink much to her annoyance . sorry but this is a bar ! wont ever go there again . pricey to
