Had lots of meals at the Waggon, and they've always been very good, with a varied menu and a huge range of drinks. We generally go when its a bit quieter around 5-6ish. I understand you need to book as it gets very busy later in the evening. The service is very good, the staff being helpful and friendly. A good range of Vegetarian meals as well.
We go there for special occasions, as it can be a bit pricey, but you pay for what you get and every meal has been delicious and filling. My only gripe is the desserts are a bit expensive.
Meals are very good here. Always very busy and booking is almost a must. The problem with it however is that there is no atmosphere. It really needs a "bar" area away from the meals. I know that you cannot say in one sentence that you need to book a table and then say there's too many tables. But if you were just out for a few beers or a bottle of wine with the wife, this is not the place to go. A meal or party with the family, great.
The beer is very good although the selection never changes. Apart from the usual stuff they have Theakston's, Workie Ticket and Director's. Always the same three. Pity.
