The food was ok when it finally arrived but i have never had such poor service in my 57 years. The first 2 mains were served and we didn't get our rice for at least 15 mins after that. The last person had waited at least 30 mins for their main course by which time the veg started to arrive. We had all eaten our food by then. We didn't get any desserts at all and they left all the dirty dishes on the table they were still there when we left still hungry at 10:30
Most bizarre experience!while in china town wanted something a little different which it was.Surprisingly for a friday night my partner & myself were the only 2 people in the restaurant, the waitress spoke little english & could give no direction as to what the process of ordering food or drink was, just silently stood wating, bein our first experience of japenese cuisine heads up would have been great.
We eventually managed to order & when the dishes came both did our best to eat what we could.im sure if we had been helped with the choosing of our dishes we would have felt happy with the food as it was both left with uneasy stomachs which settled evetually.
Wouldnt go back as the atmosphere was uninviting listening to mtv while eating japenese is not authentic.
Sadly very disappointed with the whole experience.
Nothing taste like real Japanese food(I lived in Japan for a year), no one speak Japanese, cannot explain about food. (coz Chinese owner and staffs). Staffs are keep chatting, and have to wait for long to be served...
I heard a lot about this restaurant from some of my Japanese friends, which wasnt good at all, and now I know why they don't come here.
this restaurant is under new ownership it would appear. We visited Nagomi today for lunch and were very pleasantly surpised. Having looked at the menu avaiable on the internet we weren't really inspired but thought we would give the new owners the benefit of the doubt and it was well worth it . The menu in reality is a much more comprhensive list of delicious food than the one on the web. The food was fresh well cooked/prepared and delcious. We had the seaweed salad x2, soft shell crab tempura ( big portion) and the squid tempura ,really good crisp batter just the way it should be,octopus balls (hot) a first for me strange texture but very tasty, topped with what seemed like terriyaki sauce, salmon maki, sweet corn maki eel and tuna nigiri the eel was especially good. We also had the daily special an amalgam of salmon roe, salmon sashimi, and excellent sushi rice all aranged to look like a rose on the plate that was all washed down with green tea for the princely sum of £36 with plenty of food for the 3 of us. They used the colured plate system similar to that of a well known sushi purveryor of which I am a fan but I have to say the food was better here and for belt lovers they do have one. The staff were cheerfull very helpful, attentive but unobtrusive all in all well worth a vist we shall definitely be going again
