I booked a wedding reception at AYLI many months ago for this summer. While working out some of this final details they mentioned that it is their policy that under 18's have to leave at 9pm (the starting time was 7pm). They only told us this when we asked about a related matter and it is not in the function information pack. They knew this was a wedding reception. When I queried why I hadn't been informed they responded with 'you didn't ask' and they were not very sympathetic to our situation. I have now had to change the venue 1 month prior to the event.

Never made it in to eat. We were doing the rounds in Restaurant Week, and turned up here on a Saturday Night, after having booked a table and mentioning the discounted scheme. When we turned up, staff seemed rather cold and then told us that the offer was not running on the Saturday of that week, claiming it clearly said so on the website. Indeed it did, but only in the terms and conditions section, so not at all clear in the rest of the advertising. Either way, I have to say that the staff seemed cold and unwelcoming, slightly aggressive even. Can't comment on the food of course, but the atmosphere was enough for us to decide the money wasn't worth it.

Booked a table for 7 on the evening of the Great North Run.
2 of our group were Austrian friends , who had come specially to join in the G.N. Run.
We arrived on time for our booked table and ordered 2 bottles of wine. After the wine was almost all consummed,we had the head waiter take our Orders. We waited ,and waited and eventually ordered another bottle of Wine, (which was their tactic we decided). After another considerable wait, I asked the waiter "Where is the food ?". He replied it was 'on its way'. Soon afterwards it did arrive, and we had our starters. We then waited another 20 mins before the main courses arrived. 2 of our table had ordered a fish main course, but only 1 arrived. The waiter delivered everyone's meal except our Austrian guest, who had ordered fish. All main-meals were on the table excpet his & he sat with no food?
I assumed it would arrive shortly. After some 10-15 mins, and by which time all of us were half-way through our mains, he still had no food..!
I called the head-waiter to complain, and he explained,"It was a mistake, his order didn't go through to the Chef".! We were astounded! Not only did they fail to order correctly the whole table's Order, but they didn't even TELL US, until we had to enquire. It was not only appalingly bad manners, and total innefficiency, but an awful experience for us. Our Austrian guest sat patiently and eventually after most of us had finished our mains, his arrived! Needless to say, we will not return to this Restaurant, as this dreadful service brings its own response, and
they need to urgently replace the serving staff, especially the Manager.

Nice atmosphere, very relaxed an ideal for families. Friendly staff.
Sunday lunch £9.95 and although yummy I think I've eatten better for less money.
What I really didn't like was being made to pay the so called 'disgressionary' service charge which had already been added to the bill! I haven't a problem tipping, but this is something I will decide on and how much we'll give. When we questioned it we were told there was no option but to pay it. :-(

Nicely decorated place, and the food is pretty good. One of the first late opening bars in Newcastle. A little pricey, maybe, but probably worth it.

The downstairs area is a little pokey, I'd stick to the upstairs
