My wife and I, along with our two daughters, (aged 1 & 5), spent 5 nghts at the Plough in late July 2011 on a B&B; basis, staying in the family room. There was ample space and we were very comfortable in the room, with a TV and tea making facilities. The actual pub downstairs has a lovely feel to it and from first to last the staff were amazingingly polite and helpful, from the second we walked in to the moment we left, nothing was to much for them to do. Breakfast every morning was lovely with a wide choice of food, and we had a few evenings in and partook in some of the evening menu, which was again lovely. Both the beer and food were reasonably priced and of a great standard. One downside was that we had asked for a travel cot in our room, as it was the first time the pub had issued it and it was incomplete forcing us to borrow one from friends, who luckily lived nearby. There was also a couple of holes in the ceiling, which looked as though they had come from the resiting of the fire sensor / alarm. The only other downside as a non smoker was the fact every time we walked in the front door we got a face full of smoke and also our room was directly above the front door, so we could not have our windows open very often with out our room smelling like a kipper! It was only these reasons we failed to rate a 5*, because we really enjoyed our stay and we will 100% stay at the Plough again, no doubt!

Called in here for a mid afternoon lunch when I had to work in Chester Le Street and the better half "had" to visit the Metro Centre.

A welcoming atmosphere from all the staff. The food was wonderful (Belly pork with black pudding for me and a ""wonderful" Thai green curry for the missus.

All food was freshly cooked, service was good (no long delays as some have previously mentioned) and they serve a good pint too. Add to this very reasonable prices (total for both meals was less that £14) and a relaxed and atmospheric dining area and you have the recipe for success.

If we didnt live away down in Preston, we would happily eat here every month.

Happy to recommend The Plough to anyone

Not at all impressed. Massaman beef curry tough and gristly. Rice was one solid lump. Unfortunately I spent a night in their b and b! Bed head waving in the wind, two parts of the bed base were not connected. Double fitted sheets stretched badly onto a king-size mattress. Windowsill rotten. Advertised as en-suite - bathroom was along a separate corridor and there was no shower. Corridor to the bathroom was bare floorboards with nail-heads sticking at least half cm up - and bear in mind that I walked to the bathroom barefoot. The first time. Then - the bathroom. Double plug socket immediately behind the loo? I would be hard pressed to give Plough Inn half a star. Also business users beware! Getting their vat number off them is like getting blood out of a stone.

service ridiculously slow. worst meal in a long time. would not go back for food again. i agree with the previous two comments about long waits in half full restaurant, steak rubbery, chips soggy and not customer focused. very uncomfortable to complain and comments not taken on board when mentioned.

I agree with previous comments, just waited an hour 30 mins for sunday lunch, no apology for the wait. Mash potatoes on plate cold. Were going to have desert but decided against it due to the waiting time, restaurant wasnt even half full so no excuses. Did make complaint when paid the bill but were told well we have been busy. Not very customer focused. We have been coming here on and off for years but this has been the final straw. Sorry plough you have just lost 10 customers. If you want nice food and first class service try the black horse at beamish.

The food here is nice, but the staff are slow! Customer satisfaction questionnaires are thrown away infront of the customers. Staff here are too forward and make complaining uneasy. This pub has recntly been taken over but the bar management has remained, which in my opinion is a big mistake.

i have just returned from the plough inn at kibblesworth, i must say we had a most fantastic meal, the rump steaks are delicious and well presented and reasonably priced. the service by the staff was second to none and needless to say i shall definitely return for more good food, well done!
