Me and my partner decided to give Bella Vista Restaurant a try last night, what a mistake! We make regular trips to North Shields but always end up in Sambucca, this time it was full so we went to Bella Vista instead. We arrived and got served quite quickly I ordered a glass of water and my partner ordered a glass of wine, we asked for 2 surf and turf, they had no rib eye steak so we asked for fillet. We waited a long time before the meal arrived so I also drank a jug of water. When the meal arrived the steak was a good size, mine was well done and my partners was over cooked. We had 2 prawns each and I had 1 clam and 1 mussel, I complained to the staff as the meal did not come with any garlic source. When I told the manager that our food had no taste and there was not enough mussels or prawns he instantly dismissed our complaint and informed us 'he' thought the food was fantastic so that was ok. I told him we usually ate at Sambucca and their dish came with lots of prawns and mussels and garlic sauce, the manager became very angry he said "sambucca keeps their prawns in the freezer for 5 weeks and their prawns are tiny their food is no good compared to ours" I asked for discount as he was not prepared to do anything about our tasteless food and he refused becoming more and more angry, I then became angry. My partner stood up and said just leave the food we are going as he went to the counter to pay I could not believe my ears when I heard the manager involving other customers with our debate he was telling the families that "we were rude to his staff and so drunk we were falling asleep at the table" I was furious at his lack of respect and his appalling management skills, I told my partner not to pay the bill, I then walked over to the table where the manager was and said how dare you tell lies about us to your customers, we were never rude to your staff nor were we so drunk that we were falling asleep at the table, I was drinking a jug of ice water.
