Visited recently with some friends and was looking forward to it after hearing many good things, unfortunately things went wrong after we put our order in. Each of us ordered 3 tapas dishes each the idea being we were going to share them together, for some reason 2 of my dishes and 1 of my friends dishes (3 of the 9 ordered) were brought out, followed by 2 more 5 mins later and the remaining coming a further 10 minutes later. The whole point of tapas dishes is to serve them together so they can be eaten together, instead we ended up picking at what was brought to us before it went cold then sat bored waiting for the rest of the meal. When we raised concern with the waiter Stephen, he was thoroughly unhelpful even trying to fob us off with "thats how people like their meal served", simply not true like i said above we specially went for tapas to enjoy the dishes together not get them spaced over fifteen minutes. That and the sheer ignorance and refusal to accept our point that we were dissatisfied by the aforementioned staff member left us thoroughly unhappy at the meal. The food tasted nice enough when it came but the customer service and the huge gaps between dishes we expected and asked to be brought together was unacceptable. Next time we fancy tapas we will be going to a proper establishment like la tasca where they at least have the customer service right. Cannot express enough how rude and unhelpful the staff were.
My god the sangria at El Castano is fantastic, i only had a few glasses and i was giggly! lol The food was beautiful and i really enjoyed the overall experience.
