My wife and I have been regular visitors to the Lion and Lamb for several years. It is without doubt one of the best establishments in Northumberland, a fact well confirmed by the number of tourists we see in there during the Summer. Tony and Phil work exceptionally hard to maintain a very high standard 'front of house', superbly backed up by Gavin and Co. in the kitchen. Yes you might have to wait for meals at busy times, but as everything is cooked to order, is it not worth a wait??. After all it's easy to put food into a microwave, but to prepare and properly cook a signature dish does take time, but the table is yours for the night. We have been very impressed by the way they try different evening themes, the Pub Quiz is excellent, and the function facilities which we have used are great, from a lunchtime buffet to an evening dinner party. A wide variety of beers and wines are always available, together with everything else you would expect to find in an English Country Pub. All in all a very friendly place which we feel is just like being at home, and we thoroughly recommend a visit, you won't regret it.

after reading the previous post i felt i had to add my two penneth to the pot...

Now lets not muck about, everyone has an off day now and then but i am pleased to tell you it did not happen on my visit. the food was excellent and the crack was unreal. Every member of staff working were full of smiles and friendley banter and we enjoyed a couple of the real ales which were on offer as well, which made for a great night.
to conclude this review, Great food and plenty of it. the quality was superb... prices were fair but at the higher end of pub prices but quality was there in both food, beer and service.

this is not ALL wheelchair access, only the bar area is. The restaurant is up 3 steps which according to the manager is 'wheelchair accessible' I think not! I would never visit this place again, we've been over charged on two occasions and the manager is very rude to say the least.

We won't be returning here. Landlord needs to work on his customer relations.
