Absolutely excellent food, service and beers...only criticism would be the toilets needs bringing up to the standard of a modern gastro/pub.....very tired and a bit smelly.....Would definitely eat there again. ,!!

On 11th November 2011 we went to the White Swan on the recommendation of the owners of the B&B; we were staying at in Belford (the excellent Market Cross). We ate in the Bar and the food was just right for us; my husband had a tooth out during the day and so he had soup and the baked fish and enjoyed both of them. I had the wild mushrooms as a starter and the lamb with kidneys as a main course. The lamb dish was one of the best I have ever tasted, great depth to the gravy and beautiful pink lamb. We liked seeing, on the menu, the names of the farmers and local tradespeople who had provided the produce. The service was laid back and just right for us. The puddings looked good but we didn't have room for them. The locals were very friendly as well and our westie was welcomed. A very enjoyable evening.
Only discovered this gem of a pub by chance as its not well advertised and the locals all keep it secret. My family and I have dined there regularly during the summer months as we have a holiday caravan nearby and the food is simply excellent. All ingredients are souced locally and the menu changes depending on whats in season. On our most recent visit we tried the rack of lamb which was perfectly cooked and well presented, we also tried the calves liver and the guinea fowl, the latter of which was one of the tastiest meals I have ever eaten.
All the meals are reasonably priced ( our last bill was for 3 adults and one child , main courses only with 2 soft drinks 1 large wine and 1 small wine came to £50)
Booking is recommended on a Friday and Saturday night.
Menu varied, local and seasonal - absolutely excellent quality and very very tasty. We will definitely be coming back again.
came here recently and ended up eating, meals were very nice & didnt have to wait to long till they were brought out.
