This is a great little pub, frequented by all age groups.Situated at the southern end of Low Fell with decent bus links and it's own car park, it's a must for the real ale aficionado.

Bob the cellar man keeps some great beers and the guest list changes frequently. On entering you are faced with a basic L shaped room and bar.

Turn left and you're quite likely to end up in 'somebody's seat' as a lot of the regulars and the owner's friends sit here.

Go straight ahead, the bar on your left with some standing room, then a few bench seats, tables and stools.

At the rear there is a smaller room, which holds about 20-25 comfortably, and 35 at a push. Great atmosphere when it's busy and you can't help but make friends and get involved with each other's converstaion.

There's smoking allowed in the rear courtyard/car park, which has a couple of large umbrellas and picnic tables.

There's a small childrens play area in the far rear corner of the yard, which makes it a popular place in the warmer weather.

Lawrence the owner has a couple of beer festivals on here, when they install a marquee and open the old outbuildings as another bar.

There are quite regular music nights, which has seen some cracking acts play, who get the atmosphere buzzing.

Other features:- 4 television screens, 2 fruit machines and a quiz machine. Open fires in the bar and snug.

THis is by no means a party venue, but you'll receive a decent welcome and you're guaranteed to find a drink to suit your palate. The bar staff are on the whole very friendly and approachable.

[I worked here myself many moons ago ;o) ]

No food other than the usual crisps, nuts and pork crackling.
